An Atlanta, Georgia native, Rae McConville grew up following her decorator mother around the town’s numerous fabric and antique stores in search of “that perfect piece” for whatever project was on queue. Rae developed her eye for color and pattern early, insisting on redecorating her childhood bedroom at the start of each school year on her own.
After graduating from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama,
Rae moved to New York City in 2009 to pursue her dream of becoming a fashion editor. After working for Harper’s Bazaar and InStyle magazines, Rae returned to her “home” roots and joined the new HGTV magazine, when it launched in 2011.
As Associate Home Editor, Rae’s job was to brainstorm and produce stories with fresh DIY and decorating ideas that would inspire readers.
After helping a friend (and then some of their friends) decorate their apartments, Rae realized she could bring something new to residential design, blending the skills of a decorator with the mind of a home editor.
In early 2014, Rae relocated back to Mobile and opened Rae McConville Interiors LLC, a full-service decorating firm offering Rae’s “editor for hire” approach to design. She is also honored to be a member of Pratt & Lambert Paints' Designer Guild. Rae continues to work as a freelance home editor for national magazines as well as editing her own design blog, Arrae of Style.
Our design philosophy is simple: create the home for the real life that’s actually lived there. Rae works very closely with each client to make sure their space is not just beautiful and functional, but also a true reflection of the people who live there. Grubby little fingers, clutter hoarders and the pet hair covered don’t fret. We’ve got an idea to make it work!
